2008 Annual Report

The 2008 Annual Report affirms SARINZ developing reputation as New Zealand's SAR training experts. Some of the many highlights detailed in the report include:

• Training a record 1648 SAR personnel in 2008 (over 8000 since 2003).
• Reinforcing the SARINZ role as best-practice advocate for SAR by presenting 17 papers at nine international SAR conferences.
• Achieving a 98% approval rating, confirming the SAR people we serve believe SARINZ is helping them to save lives.
• Rolling out refresher training with LandSAR (funded by the Lottery Grants Board).
• Winning a competitive tender to review and design Antarctica New Zealand's training and development programme.
• Signing the first MOU with LandSAR (NZ) that recognises SARINZ as the training provider of choice for land search and rescue.
• Developing and signing two new agreements with Tai Poutini Polytechnic which has reaffirmed our SAR training partnership to 2015.
• Establishing the sector training working group to improve course booking processes, making training easier for course coordinators and volunteers to access.
