Australian Antarctic Division training - Sept 2007

As part of the ever increasing Antarctic project Grant undertook a whirlwind trip to Tasmania in early September to provide 5 days technical rescue training to the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD). This trip forms part of the the ongoing Antarctic project spearheaded by Antarctica New Zealand to standardise methodology, terminology, training and concepts across the major players down on the ice.

The students had this to say about the training:

"We are just off the 5 day Technical Rescue course attended by Field training officers (Ftos) and Myself, and I would have to say this has been the single best contribution to Ftos knowledge and to standardisation of our SAR techniques that I have seen in my involvement with AAD since 1994.The course was absolutely excellent and entirely appropriate to our needs. It provided theoretical background, standardised approach, depth of knowledge, and a high level of practical application. Grants theory presentations and easy instructional style, mixed with his expertise and experience made it a very powerful few days for the FTO group".
