David Shearer

David Shearer was appointed the SARINZ business manager in April 2006 . David has a thorough grounding in business, having been employed in senior management positions within the education services sector since 1994. in 2001 he founded Synergy Education a specialist education consultancy whose clients include government agencies, universities, PTEs, schools and not-for-profit organisations.

David specialises in education management (in particular marketing) and has conducted over 150 training workshops on various management topics. David's monthly EduBusiness articles are published in the Education Review, and he is a regular speaker at education business conferences. He is a contracted NZTE advisor and mentors organisations throughout NZ on education marketing and strategy design - along with implementing business systems tailored to the education sector.

Dave is based in Christchurch and is married with three children and has an M.B.A. from the University of Canterbury as well as a Bachelor of Education (University of Canterbury) and Diploma of Teaching (Christchurch College of Education). He is a Member of NZIM, former Board Member of University of Canterbury (MBA) and current Trustee of Elmwood School.
