
This course is designed to train rescue skills in difficult terrain, typically inaccessible areas with slope between 30 degrees and vertical. It includes the construction and use of low and high directional, multi point anchoring systems and specialised rescue systems. Theoretical understandings are strengthened in areas such as vector, force and risk analysis and site protection and safety. More difficult operational rescue procedures are taught and practiced including patient handling and rescue with and without stretchers in vertical environments.

Duration:
Course recommended for: rescue personnel experienced in the caving and climbing or vertical environments.
Prerequisites: Previous climbing or rope work experience. It is also strongly recommended that you have attended the Foundation Rope course prior to enrolling.
Venue recommendations: access to classroom type facilities plus availability to 5-10 metres in height eg. bridge, tower, cliff for 1st day and 30 m height for 2nd day. Prefer ability to access top and bottom.
Venue hire, participant accommodation and catering are a local cost.

Equipment requirements: Sit and chest harness, Climbing helmet, Descent and ascent devices, Locking carabiners, Tandem prusiks (3m of 8mm accessory cord), Personal pulleys x2, Webbing slings x2 ,Pack, Boots, Warm base layers, Wet weather jacket and pants, Leather gloves, Headlamp and Personal medication/first aid kit.
A complete list of equipment will be supplied upon application for this course.
