This course is designed for “shiny” work type four-wheel drive vehicles, and covers hazard awareness, driving a four-wheel drive in on-road and off-road environments and water crossings. This is not an extreme course, but will provide an appropriate level of challenge. Normally there will be only one vehicle per participant, although in some circumstances two people per vehicle will be considered.

Duration: The course is normally delivered over two days and there is pre-course work to complete. Assessment occurs alongside the training. Eligible for NZLSAR subsidy
Course recommended for: all personnel that may use a 4WD vehicle in an off road environment.
Venue recommendations: access to classroom type facilities and local forestry or farm tracks with water crossings. Venue discussed on application for a course.Venue hire, participant accommodation and catering are a local cost
Equipment requirements: suitable four-wheel drive vehicle in good operating condition with a current warrant of fitness and registration.
Prerequisites:Full class 1 licence for 12 months
Course Numbers: minimum 4 and maximum 12
This course includes three modules, all of which are unit standards and require a $25.00 registration “Hook on” fee to be paid if the student is not already registered with an active NZQA number. This is a TEC requirement.
