This course is designed to develop rope rescue skills in sloping terrain using multi-pitch rescue systems. It also deals with rope rescue needs in difficult or unusual circumstances including the use of earth and snow anchors, counter weight raising systems, multi pitch lowers, passing bends and changeovers while maintaining two points.

Duration:The core course material is normally delivered over two days. There is also ntroductory work while assessment occurs alongside the training and through a reflective practice component. Eligible for NZLSAR subsidy
Course recommended for: Rescue personnel active and experienced in the alpine and climbing environments.
Prerequisites: completion of the Vertical Rope Rescue course.
Venue recommendations: classroom type facilities plus access to a suitable snow and scree environments.
Venue hire, participant accommodation and catering are a local cost.
Equipment requirements: Ice axe, harness, crampons, transceiver, shovel, probe helmet, selection of hardware. Clothing suitable for work in the field regardless of weather.
A complete list of equipment will be supplied upon application for this course.
Please note: alpine and mountaineering equipment may be required to access a suitable environment
