This course is designed to facilitate skills in personal rope travel activities, including safety issues and essential equipment. This includes completing both single and multi pitch descents and ascents and personal changeovers. Rescuer based pick offs, assisted and unassisted hoist rescues are also covered.

Duration:
Course recommended for: all search and rescue personnel experienced in rope work and are actively participating in a search and rescue group.
Prerequisites: A minimum of 80 hours logged or attested experience working with ropes (climbing, abseiling or similar)
Venue recommendations: access to classroom type facilities plus availability to access 5 /10 m height eg. bridge, tower, cliff for 1st day and 30 m height for 2nd day. Prefer ability to access top and bottom.
Venue hire, participant accommodation and catering are a local cost.
Eligible for NZLSAR subsidy
Equipment requirements:
A complete list of equipment will be supplied upon application for this course.Sit harness, Climbing helmet, Descender, Mechanical ascenders x2, Backup device, Locking carabiners x5, Personal pulleys x2, Webbing slings x2, Pack, Boots, Warm base layers, Wet weather jacket and pants, Leather gloves, Headlamp, Personal medication/first aid kit and Cotton overalls (optional).
