Robert Koester is a nationally and internationally recognized authority in search management and is responsible for pioneering research in the study of Lost Person Behaviour (LPB) and it's practical application to search problems. He is particularly well known for his work on the wandering behaviour of elderly persons with dementia.
His other research includes ground based Probability of Detection experiments for the US Coast Guard and development of the International Search and Rescue Incident Database (ISIRD) to which New Zealand contributes.
Robert is currently President of the Virginia Search & Rescue Council,editor of SARnews.com, CEO of dbS Productions LLC, Lead Researcher of Fronterra search and rescue software, forming the International Society for Search and Rescue, and has authored numerous books and papers.
